If you don't already know what this page is about, you
will need to read the explanation lower down... otherwise what you see
will be meaningless to you. If you are in the know, you will, doubtless,
want to get on with it, you'll only need to read the next two paragraphs
before getting to the gallery ...
So that they will all fit, we have put the photographs into the gallery as
'thumbnail'-sized images. To see the full-sized photo, click on the
miniature version. Each name,
or alias, matches one of the photographs (with notable exceptions ... one
contributor sent along a bunch of bums as his representative and another
of those lovable rogues has elected his dogs to represent him...Grrr!
Don't worry, you get to see them when you click on their representatives...).
Once you have decided who is who, click on the name repeated below the
photograph (or sit the cursor over the name and check the left hand side
of the lower frame for the photo number) and the correct photo will be
revealed. Have fun! It might be amusing to list who you think is who (no
cheating) before you check to see. If you e-mail us your original lists
we'll put up another page off this one showing who got mistaken for
whom...could be a lark! O.K. You now know all you
need to if you came to this page knowing what it is all about and you can
zoom to the bottom of the page and click on the PHOTOS button...be
patient, this may take a little longer than most of our pages to load,
even as thumbnails all those images amount to quite a lot of data!
For readers who don't already know what is going on
here, we will explain...
Bulletin Boards and Forums are an
increasingly popular way, so we are told, for those who enjoy the luxury of being connected
to the Internet at an affordable rate, to discuss ideas, exchange
information, seek and give advice and swap stories with people who have at
least one interest in common. Until late February we had never actually
visited one but were introduced to the excellent ybw.com (Yachting and
Boating World) website by Chris Price, the editor of our Steel Boat page,
who had, we later discovered, mentioned MarineZine to fellow forum
contributors on Scuttlebutt, the Yachting Monthly forum and Reader To Reader, the
Practical Boat Owner forum.
During a series of forays into both those forums (or
bulletin boards), we discovered why BBs are so popular and we (rather impulsively) agreed that it would be fun to gather photographs
from regular contributors and put them in MarineZine but, instead of
labelling them, to let readers decide who they think is who... if you
don't recognise the names, you may like to go and browse the forum
'threads' and acquaint yourself with the style of
each of them first..., If you have never done this before, click on Forums
in the bottom frame on the Yachting and
Boating World website home page and you will find four forum links on a
page. The two in question are both on the right hand side of the page. The
site is at http://www.ybw.com |
