In this section of the library so far...

The Technique Of Sea Fishing by W.E. Davies - No ISBN -
Ours is the 1970 Paperfronts edition from Elliot Right Way Books, Kingswood, Surrey, U.K. and the front cover is marked '4/- (shillings) or 20p', showing that Britain was in the midst of the change of money it took so many of us so long to get used to.

There are lots of good hints and tips on tackle and the vagaries of different species, it is a companionably written little volume and deals mainly with the waters around Britain, although there is a foreign waters section.

Nobody has mentioned to the fish that 30 years have passed since the book was published and they can still be caught using the same techniques! We rather liked the authors' last words, a salute to his readers - "Tight Lines" -  it sums up his cheery writing style throughout.

Unfortunately, we were unable to locate a copy of this book through Amazon to link to.

This Is Sport-Diving Technique - A Handbook For Beginners - by Duilio Marcante - ISBN 0-245.52862.8

This small hardback edition was published by the Nautical Publishing Company Ltd., of Lymington in the UK, in 1977.
and was 'inherited' as part of the boats' equipment.

According to a handsome label on the fly-leaf, Viscount Bridport, a former owner of the boat was kind enough to leave it aboard. The book is well illustrated and written in a clear and simple fashion.

We would certainly recommend it to anyone who has been wondering whether or not to take up diving, is planning to take a course or hasn't dived for some time and could do with a refreshment of the memory. It is not a substitute for a proper course of diving instruction but a good introduction to the subject and worth reading.

These days the book is called This Is Diving and is available through Amazon.

If every reader tells us about just one book (the more the merrier) all our readers will get to hear about books they might not otherwise have known existed and had the chance to enjoy - why not drop us a line, with at least the book's title, name of the author and ISBN details, and preferably with your description of the reason you feel the book is worthy of inclusion in the library...
