voyaging from one place to another - once moored, or at anchor, you're
more likely to be surrounded by hazards than ever you were out at sea!
Common Sense is about
just that - sense which should be common to all of us but often isn't
until bitter experience or good advice has played its part. Here we can
all share the benefits of experience and offer advice to those who would
prefer to avoid repeating our mistakes!
Ground Rules has its
focus firmly on anchoring and mooring - chains, anchors, windlasses, and
the best ways to use them. Bow and stern lines, springs and kedges -
here we can discuss which tackle suits what sort of ground, approaches
to quays and jetties in tricky conditions and how best to deal with
different situations.
Safe Havens deals with
harbours, ports, marinas and anchorages from a personal safety point of
view as well as in terms of comfort and the possibility of leaving the
boat unattended or sleeping in peace.
