In A Breath Of Fresh Air we follow the
progress of a British crew aboard a steel cutter, leaving Trinidad in early
1999, as
they left the Caribbean in the boat skipper Chris Baily had purchased and re-fitted in Trinidad,
West Indies, a few months earlier,
and made their way through the Panama Canal (the story of their
transit is told in 'Remember To Breathe In And Out
Slowly' in The Big Ditch) into the Pacific
and across that vast expanse of blue
water.
In 'Mahe's
Atlantic Crossing, Maureen Pope, star of The Great Adventure pages
of Sailors, describes the November/December 1998 voyage across the 'Pond'
from the Canary Islands to Barbados.
