Some of us just dream about things, while others get on with them... in the Caribbean we met Australians Peter and Maureen Pope, for example, sailing around the world in a 35 foot yacht they built themselves...the story of their Great Adventure, so far,  is contained here in a series of articles and newsletters. To go directly to any of the items listed just click on the underlined title - alternatively, going to the next page will take you to meet Maureen and Peter Pope - you will find links to the newsletters on other pages in this section too.

The Great Adventure In Issue 2

Maureen writes a couple of newsletters each year for friends and family and, when we met in Trinidad, in 1999, was kind enough to let us read what she had written so far. We enjoyed her letters so much that we persuaded her to let us publish them for our readers to enjoy too.  There was so much good reading that we decided to dedicate a whole sub-section of Sailors especially to it.

We have found ourselves looking forward to newsletters from Maureen and Peter as though they were part of our family, and were overjoyed to find 'Mahe' back in the Lagoon at Sint Maarten, in the Netherlands Antilles (Caribbean) when we stopped off, in June 2000, on our way back to Europe. We  managed to acquire some photographs as well as various other articles Maureen has written.

The original graphic for the newsletters was made for Maureen by one of her daughters, We hope she will forgive us for stretching it out but we only had a photograph of the printed page to work from and we wanted our readers to be able to see it...
