skiff 2skiff

We loved the lines of this skiff, stored in the old mast shed at Nelson's Dockyard at English Harbour, Antigua in the West Indies and thought you might like to see it too.

What can be lovelier than the sight of an oarsman (or woman) steadily  rowing a sturdy and elegant rowboat in the sunrise or sunset? Or at any time of day, come to that! A practised individual makes the task seem effortless and, like bicycling, rowing is a skill which comes back quite quickly, once mastered.

As a means of transport on rivers and lakes it is ideal - non-pollutant, quiet and affording excellent exercise for the whole body. In good weather, one can easily transport food and drink for two and take off for a quiet picnic in an unspoiled spot, enjoying the views on the way. If this sounds like you - we'd love to hear about you, your boat and the enjoyment you get from using it. Equally, if you make your living by fishing from a rowboat or ferrying others to and fro, we'd love to hear your story. Any pictures will be welcomed too.
We're interested in all kinds of rowboat, the traditional and the ultramodern - tell us all about yours!

Of course there's always the chance of a capsize...if you have any funny, or tragic, stories to tell, this is the place to tell them...don't worry about your talents as an author - we can always edit if necessary.
