To paraphrase the author's
notes:
The
original purpose of this program was to permit a rough renaming of
downloaded mp3 files, to remove unwanted characters, lowercase the file and then let you give the files the final touch.
It has, however, grown and can now
usually rename the file from just about any 'normal' name version to your way of renaming.
Files like ThisFile-IS_MY_FILE!!S.mp3 can be renamed to any one of
who knows how many different 'presets' and might end up: This file)-is my file.mp3.
Small changes and hits are usually found in whatsnew.txt, please read it
if you install this application.
Screname works in strange ways. It totally dissects your
files, lower- cases the whole input file, extracts artist name, separator, song, track field,
bit-rate information, comments etc. and and then puts the parts together again the way you want
them. I believe that this is the best way to get the files just the right way, and it seems to work
o.k. on most files.
Although SCrename is freeware, Nikolaj is determined to find out how many people are using his software so, to get rid of the nag screen you need to e-mail him with the username you want to use and he will e-mail you back with a registration code. In case you really cannot get access to the Internet, ever, he supplies an unregistered user's registration code.
