RAYS ABC

raysabc_01.gif (20260 bytes)raysabc_02.gif (6153 bytes)The splash screen invites you to share the program with your friends. The main menu offers a choice of four games to play.

raysabc_04.gif (16564 bytes)Number Fun: In this game, the player selects a number from the boxes ranged down each side of the screen, by clicking on it with the mouse, and the word for that number appears in the left hand slot (pale green). Now the player must click on the right letters on the central letter grid to match that word. If a letter selected is incorrect, it will not appear in the yellow box. When all the correct letters  have been entered, as many little objects as the number represents (e.g. one tomato, nine green buses) will float around the screen and each one must be clicked with the mouse to make it disappear. When the objects are cleared, the number will also disappear. When all the numbers have gone, the player is rewarded with a 9-piece bonus jigsaw puzzle to put together will appear. The resulting picture can, apparently, be printed out. We never managed to put one of these jigsaw puzzles together properly and suspect that there may be something wrong with this element of the program but, since everything else works, we are not perturbed. The words are also spoken aloud for those with a soundcard and there are great sound effects for those who do not have one.

raysabc_03.gif (16555 bytes)Colour Fun: When the player clicks on a coloured box, the name of the colour appears on the left and must be matched. As they are named, the colours disappear. When all the coloured boxed have disappeared, the player is rewarded with a jigsaw puzzle.

raysabc_05.gif (19272 bytes)Everyday Objects: In this game, the objects pictured must be named, including an elephant which is, after all, an everyday object to some people. The other objects are more ordinary! Again, there is a jigsaw as a reward.

Alphabet Game: This game can only be used by players on computers with soundcards. Either in alphabetical order or randomly, the player must listen to a letter and then click on the same letter. A speaker symbol can be clicked on to hear the letter again. Points are gained for correct answers and lost for incorrect ones. At the end there is a score and the player is invited to enter his, or her, name. There is also a high scores card.
