For the purposes of trying out this and other photographic image applications, we used the same folder full of digital photographs throughout, so that we could compare results and see how different applications helped or hindered our
efforts. Amongst other things, Batch Thumbs can create copies of files, rename files, and convert files from one format to
another and create uniformly sized thumbnails. To see the
interface in use, click on the 'thumbnail'-sized
images to view full-sized versions.
The original folder conained 176 .jpegs with a combined total of 61.5MB. We selected all of the images in BatchThumbs and asked it to create thumbnails of them all and deposit them in a new folder created for the purpose. The thumbnails were 150 pixels wide and, at the end of the operation, which took less than two minutes, the application offered the option to have .html pages created with which to browse the thumbnails. We selected this option and the resulting mini-web browser was ready in a flash. The combined total of the thumbnails was 1,47MB, without counting the 7 web pages which totalled 36.8KB.
Then we made a 5-image album for the purposes of showing how each application's interface
looked, which is what you are viewing here.
