You can keep PowerBar on top or have it auto-hide. Have PowerBar at the top, bottom, left or right.
We mainly use ours at the bottom and, sometimes, on the right.
To enable you to have Data Files that contain more shortcuts than will fit in the space available to display all the icons at once, PowerBar has a scroll facility. It is easy to drag and drop shortcuts, .exe files etc., (but not some items, such as .txt files) onto the bar. Each time you do so, the editor window pops up and you can check the information automatically produced in the various windows and cancel or accept the entry into that data file, and even change the default icon for one you prefer.
After each new entry, the PowerBar updates itself so that the information is safely in the data file before you add any more. You can create separate data files for each group you want to use separately or put several groups in one data file and use separators to make it obvious where one ends and the next begins. Little buttons appear on the toolbar, bearing the appropriate icons. The program creates a separate data file for each new bar that you add to the set. You can only see one
bar/datafile at a time but it is easy enough to switch.
Since PowerBar does not place a shortcut to itself in the Start Menu, we decided to make a shortcut from PB13.exe and put it on the QuickLaunch bar at the bottom of Windows Desktop so that the bar can be summoned up at any time. PowerBar saves the setting of the
datafile/visible toolbar you are using when you exit and returns to it when next you summon PowerBar up. It is a very useful tool if you have Internet access and tend to use the same websites regularly, as you can put .com links on PowerBar too!
If computers are your field, you will be pleased to hear that .bat files can also be placed on PowerBar and that Command lines are supported. Folder items can also be placed on the PowerBar so that, if you are working on a project that requires accessing various folders regularly, you can save a lot of time by preparing a PowerBar datafile with all the things you will need. This gets around the problem of not being able to put .txt files, for instance, on the PowerBar directly - you can simply create a folder to which you save that kind of file if you want to be able to access it via
PowerBar.
You can even choose the font you wish editor to use!
