OUTBOARD ENGINES
by Ed Sherman

This book, of which we bought a copy a few years back, has been an invaluable source of help when things looked grim at the rear end of the dinghy, so we are very pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to get a copy for yourself, or someone you know that might appreciate it.

Our copy, battered though it may be, still has a well-earned place amongst the practical books we keep aboard.

Outboard Engines: Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair by Ed Sherman was reviewed in MarineZine's Bookshelves section and the following comments come from a reader in the USA:

"Although I already owned the manufacturer's manual for my outboard, this book added the practical trouble-shooting and common-sense elements that I needed and I have managed to keep my outboard engine going without needing outside help ever since I took the time to read it through and then work with it next to me.

Considering that I had been on the verge of scrapping the motor altogether when I got the book, I have plenty to be happy about. I only wish I had owned the book when the motor was new, because there are plenty of tips on avoiding getting an outboard into the state mine was in.

When I do finally replace this one, I shall be following Ed Sherman's advice on staying out of trouble, which should help to prolong its life. A great book to have around."
